I’ve been pitching a lot for more work lately. I’m trying to diversify and cover web design and freelance writing, but I want to try to challenge myself in both fields so I’m not going to turn down any challenge that comes along. If a client approaches me for a type of website that I haven’t designed before, I’m not going to refuse – I’ll simply learn how to do is as I develop that site. I’ve always believed that I’ve always got something new to learn as a site designer and as a writer so I’m always eager to rise to new challenges. Certainly, I’ve been asked by one of my web clients to add features to his site or try to do things for him and rather than saying “no, I can’t” my response has been to go to the keyboard and to find a way to make it happen.
Anyway, I’ve faced no bigger challenge than my latest client. I’m now taking a very flexible approach to my writing in that I am willing to take on almost any writing comission, any subject matter, any deadline… So earlier today my new client (who works with various companies providing content for their sites) contacted me for a piece of work… and then another… and another… and by the end of the day I had eight jobs lined up all needing to be done by Sunday, with three of them needed within 24 hours!
Don’t they say, “be careful what you wish for”…?!
